Tourico Holidays reported that room nights sold from China tripled during the first quarter in London, New York City, Paris, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Chicago saw the most significant increase in percentage of bookings from China, with bookings surging by a whopping 320 percent. Bookings from China to other destinations within China also grew during the first quarter, with bookings to Bejing jumping by over 300 percent.
“We’ve put an emphasis on bolstering our market share in Asia-Pacific this year – and the first quarter results show the impact of our added resources,” said Amir Kalmar, Chief Marketing Officer for Tourico Holidays. “Our massive, worldwide inventory of hotels and our unique contracting methodology ensure Chinese travel sellers can find a range of hotels, regardless of where they’re searching – all at industry-best rates with room for a healthy margin.” In 2015, Tourico opened a new office in Shaghai, and plans to open two more offices before the end of 2016.
